Should we turn the water in our toilets green? We want to hear what you think.
Imagine the year is 2050 and your home has two water supplies – one for drinking and washing and the other – green water – for flushing your toilet and watering your garden. We’re already talking to developers in our region about trialling a system like this on some small new developments but should we aim to make it standard across all homes within the next 30 years?
A system like this would save energy as the green water would be treated to a lower standard, and it would mean less water being taken out of the environment. It would also reduce customers’ bills. The water would be dyed with an organic green dye which would break down easily to guard against cross contamination with the drinking water supply.
