We have recently been given a silver award from the Ministry of Defence for our work helping former services personnel into work. We’ve signed the MoD’s Corporate Covenant, a promise to do all we can to give Army, Navy and RAF leavers new career opportunities.

We’re one of the region’s biggest employers and in recent years we have employed a large number of former service men and women in a variety of roles including customer service advisors, plant and network engineers, renewable energy managers, and tanker drivers.

Here is Kelan Marshall during his time as tank crewman in the army. After five years in the forces he left and found an Anglian Water vacancy on the website of army leaver job service Careers Transition Partnership, he joined as an apprentice technician and says, “The thing I love most about this job is that you are outdoors and constantly moving which I feel is a perfect transition for someone leaving the army – I couldn’t imagine being stuck within four walls.”

 

Mark Radford is a Maintenance Technician in Cambridgeshire and joined after spending eight years in the Royal Engineers Corps being deployed in Afghanistan and humanitarian disaster relief in Africa. “I chose Anglian Water because they looked beyond my lack of civilian work experience and saw my transferable skills that I could apply to the job role,” he says.

 

Graham Richardson pictured in the Falklands in 1983 during his time as an RAF Engineer, and today. After leaving and spending time as a contractor he got a job at Anglian Water, starting as a craft technician and after several years of hard work and career development he is now in a managerial position.
