Anglian Water staff are celebrating today after the company has been named the best UK-based company to work for, and come second overall in the prestigious Glassdoor ‘Best places to Work’ list for 2018.

The announcement comes only months after the company’s Chief Executive, Peter Simpson, was crowned ‘Best CEO’ according to Glassdoor ratings.

Anglian Water came second to US tech giant Google, with our employees championing it as a “great company to work for,” and awarding us an exceptional score of 4.4 out of 5. An impressive 89% of employees say they would recommend us to a friend as an excellent place to work.

Unlike other workplace awards, the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards are based on employee feedback which is anonymous.   When sharing a company review on Glassdoor, employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation, benefits, work/life balance, senior management, as well as culture and values. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.

Chief Executive Peter Simpson said: “It’s fantastic that Anglian Water has won a second ringing endorsement from Glassdoor this year and it’s especially significant because it’s based on feedback left by our own employees.

“I would like to thank all our employees who make Anglian Water such a great place to work every single day – somewhere I love working too.

“We work hard on encouraging employee wellbeing and creating a culture driven by happier, healthier and safer staff. Looking after our employees is at the heart of delivering great customer service, alongside the enthusiasm and dedication our staff have for their jobs. They get a true sense of purpose from providing safe clean drinking water, sewage services and protecting the environment for the wider communities we serve.”

The Best Places to Work are determined using company reviews collected over the past year and the results are compiled based on Glassdoor’s robust calculations which take into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.
