Anglian Water will be closing one lane and a footpath on Parkside in Cambridge next week to carry out an urgent sewer repair.

The work will take place from April 1 and 15, working over the bank holiday weekend to get things underway as swiftly as possible and minimise disruption later in the month when people are back at work.

Temporary pedestrian crossings and traffic management will be in place.

A spokesperson from Anglian Water said: “We will be working extended hours from 7am to 7pm to get this job done quickly and safely, and we will be using a large bit of machinery called a vacuum excavator to speed up the process of digging the 4.5 metres under the road to access the sewer pipe.

“As the lane closure predominantly affects a bus route there will be some disruption to those and to other road users. We are sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience.”

–       The traffic lights will be manually controlled 07:00 to 19:00. Any emergency vehicles will take priority through the traffic management set up.

–       The bus company is fully aware of the works
